2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Local storage, session storage, pixels and similar identifiers can also be used for purposes similar to cookies.
- Session technologies are deleted when you close the browser or the session ends.
- Persistent technologies remain on your device for the stated period or until you delete them earlier.
- First-party technologies are used by the Smilab domain.
- Third-party technologies are used by service providers such as Cloudflare or Google.
3. Choice model
The Site uses two categories:
- Necessary: Required to provide the Site securely and to remember your choice. They cannot be switched off.
- Analytics: Used to measure Site use. They run only after your explicit consent.
Marketing, retargeting, advertising personalisation or social media tracking pixels are not used in this version. If such a technology is added in the future, this notice and the preference panel are updated in advance, and the technology is not run without your relevant choice.
4. Technologies used
4.1 Necessary technologies
| Name | Party | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
smilab_consent |
Smilab | Stores your necessary and analytics choices, the notice version and the date of your choice in your browser | 6 months |
Cloudflare’s security system may use one of the following cookies only when a security check is triggered. They are not expected to appear for every visitor or on every visit:
| Name | Party | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm |
Cloudflare | Helps distinguish bot traffic from real user traffic | About 30 minutes of inactivity |
cf_clearance |
Cloudflare | Remembers that you passed a security check | Period set in the Cloudflare security settings |
Other short-lived Cloudflare security identifiers for incident or diagnostic purposes may appear only during a verification or an error investigation. They are not used for advertising or visitor profiling.
Necessary technologies are used to provide the Site, ensure security and apply your choice under Article 5/2-f of Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (“KVKK”), or under Article 5/2-ç where an applicable obligation exists in the specific case.
4.2 Analytics technologies
Analytics technologies are loaded when you consent to the “Analytics” category in the preference panel. Before you consent, no Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics code is loaded and no request for analytics purposes is sent to these services.
| Name/technology | Provider | Purpose | Maximum duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes visits made from the same browser and measures the number of visits | 2 years (renewed on each visit) |
_ga_<measurement-id> |
Google Analytics 4 | Stores the session and Site-use state | 2 years (renewed on each visit) |
| Google Tag Manager | Manages the approved analytics tag. It does not set a separate cookie itself | Loaded only while analytics consent is active |
With Google Analytics, pages visited, interaction and session information, referring page, campaign parameters, device/browser information, approximate location derived from the IP address and analytics identifiers may be processed.
The following restrictions apply:
- Google Signals is kept switched off.
- Advertising personalisation signals are kept switched off.
- User ID, name, email address or phone number is not sent to Google Analytics.
- Free text and form fields on the Site are not sent as analytics event parameters.
- The retention setting for user-level event data does not exceed 14 months.
The legal basis for analytics technologies is the explicit consent you give under KVKK Article 5/1.
5. How to manage your choice
The cookie preference panel is shown on your first visit to the Site. In the panel,
- the Accept cookies and Reject non-essential options are offered at the same level,
- you can switch the analytics category on and off separately,
- if you close the panel without making a choice, only necessary technologies run,
- rejecting does not affect the quality of the service or your ability to contact us.
You can change your choice at any time through the “Cookie settings” link in the Site footer. When you withdraw analytics consent, the analytics code is stopped and an attempt is made to delete the analytics cookies belonging to the Smilab domain. You can also delete remaining cookies in your browser settings.
6. International transfers
Cloudflare uses a global network. Google Analytics, if you give consent, may process data in the European Union and/or the United States.
Ongoing or regular international transfers rely on an adequacy decision or an appropriate safeguard such as a standard contract under KVKK Article 9. The relevant service is not activated before an appropriate transfer mechanism is established. Your analytics consent concerns the processing of analytics data and is not used on its own in place of the appropriate safeguard required for regular international transfers.
7. Your rights and contact
Your rights under KVKK Article 11 and how to apply are explained in the Website Privacy Notice.
For questions, you can reach Smilab at [email protected].
8. Changes
If the technology, purpose, provider or retention period actually used changes, this notice and the preference panel are updated. If a material change affects the scope of consent, your choice is requested again.
The current version is always published on this page.
